Pattern: Dynamic Diagonals!

Dynamic Diagonals!
© 2010 Rachel Walstead
This is a super easy scarf! It is perfect for beginners or advanced knitters who want a simple knit. The subtle diagonals created add dynamics to your scarf. :)

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn, such as Cascade 220
  • Size 8 needles
*note that this pattern can be easily adjusted for any weight yarn. Simply cast on any number of stitches (on an appropriately sized needle) that is divisible by 5 and add 2.

Directions:
  • Cast on 27 stitches.
  • Row 1 and all odd rows: sl1, k26
  • Row 2: sl 1, *k1, k2tog, YO, k2,* repeat until 1 stitch remains, k1
  • Row 4: sl 1, *k2, k2tog, YO, k1,* repeat until 1 stitch remains, k1
  • Row 6: sl 1, *k3, k2tog, YO,* repeat until 6 stitches remain, k6
  • Row 8: sl 1, k1, *k3, k2tog, YO,* repeat until 5 stitches remain, k5
  • Row 10: sl 1, k2, *k3, k2tog, YO,* repeat until 4 stitches remain, k4
  • Repeat rows 1-10 until scarf reaches desired length. Bind off, weave in ends, and block.
