Knitting Hiatus?

Apparently I've taken another knitting hiatus... It's never intentional for me to stop knitting for so long, it just happens. I did teach a friend to knit during this "hiatus" of sorts, though I'm not sure how much he remembers.
Summer seems to be a unusually busy time for me every year, and I forget to take time for myself to relax, so knitting tends to be on the back burner. Last night, however, I got the random urge to knit another Clapotis (first one can be seen here). I searched through my stash and couldn't find any yarn I deemed acceptable (likely because I tend to not acquire yarn in quantities conducive for knitting anything of substance unless I'm actually planning it). I had some Paton's Classic Wool (worsted weight) that was bi-tone (can I say that about yarn?), and decided to dye it to make it acceptable for a Clapotis.
I initially wanted to do 3 colors, so I separated each skein into three sections. I did some math to figure out how to split each one evenly and did my best to count how many armlengths I had put in each pile. Once I decided on 2 colors instead of 3, I tied everything up and split it between the two bowls.
Side note: the bigger the bowls, the better. Mine are a bit small since I've borrowed them indefinitely from my parents and I have that whole bachelor pad thing going on over here (girls can have bachelor pads, right?). I think my adventures would be more successful with bigger bowls. Or a microwavable double boiler. Hmmm...
Paton's Classic Wool Worsted
Before
I'm never sure at the end of a dyeing adventure the numbers of what I've used (and to think I want to be a scientist!), but I'm pretty sure it was in the neighborhood of: 8 packets of iced blue raspberry lemonade, 5 packets of lemon-lime, and 2 packets of lemonade, along with quite a bit of neon blue, neon green, and regular green food coloring.
I also have a tendency to make a mess when I dye. Kool-Aid water took over the microwave, and then the entire counter. That led to pasta exploding out of the box and all over the kitchen... It was exciting, to say the very least... ;)
Kool Aid Yarn Dyeing
During
I started out with my dyeing contraption looking like it does here. After a while of having parts being dyed green and parts blue, I combined everything and basically "overdyed" everything with blue (Iced Blue Raspberry Lemonade Kool Aid and neon blue food coloring). Mostly this was just to make sure all the strands got some level of color. I'd hate to have some random white spots in my yarn later...

All the excitement payed off when I woke up to this:

After
And after I got home, I finally wrapped some of it up and would you just look at that?! :)

Finished!
I dyed about 2.7 skeins, at 210 yards each, so about 550 yards. I believe that will be enough for the Clapotis I want to make with it, but we'll see... :)

And with that, I'm casting on! Happy knitting!!
